Loading New Firmware

Firmware updates may from time to time become available on the diffractionlimited.com web site.

 

To load new firmware, please carefully follow these instructions.

 

Important Note:  In order to use the new firmware, you will need to upgrade to the latest MaxDome II ASCOM Driver.  

 

  1. Download the new HEX file from the web site (it may be included within an update for the MaxDome II driver software; please check the release notes for file location).

  2. Turn off power.

  3. Unplug all connectors from the board.

  4. Turn ON the FACTORY DIP switch.

  5. Plug in the RS-232 connector from the computer.
  6. Launch the ASCOM Device Hub. Do not connect to the dome.
  7. Select Tools menu Setup.
  8. Click Choose.
  9. Click Properties. The Setup MaxDome II dialog box appears:


  10. Under Firmware click the ... button to browse for the location of the HEX file.

  11. Plug in the power connector and turn on the power.

  12. Within 10 seconds, click the Program button. (Note: you will get an error if the dome link is already connected, or if you wait more than 10 seconds.)

  13. Wait for programming to complete.

  14. Close the dialog box

  15. Turn off power to the board

  16. Important: turn OFF the FACTORY DIP switch.

  17. Reattach the connectors and power up the boards.

  18. Connect to the dome and verify correct operation.
